We are in need of energy in stored state, for operating our
systems, instruments etc. without interruption.
Lithium Ion batteries mainly handling these requirements. But the
cost and weight of the Lithium batteries and chance for explosion are the
drawbacks lying with these. The unending
search of alternative energy lead to the invention of novel idea of producing and storing energy thru graphene .
Graphene is an excellent conductor electricity and energy
and is an extremely light compound , where as Lithium-ion batteries are bulky and heavier
than graphene. Graphene batteries almost
eliminates the possibility of battery explosion. Normal lithium-ion battery stores around 180Wh
per kilo, while graphene stores 1000Wh which makes latter more efficient space
wise. The systems running of graphene
can run longer uninterrupted without frequent recharging and they charge much
faster.
The countries currently on the forefront are China , Brazil,
Canada and India, in graphene production
and China stands at the top with a
mammoth production of 630,000 MT
